The gorillas are the reason, and an hour on foot with a family in the forest of the Volcanoes is worth the altitude and the climb. Around that, Rwanda has made itself one of the simplest countries on the continent to travel into, which is why we so often use it as the front or the back of a longer East African trip.

Permits are limited and priced accordingly, so this is a trip to plan early rather than late.
